ABOUT MY PHOTO:
This photo was taken in Lausanne, Switzerland. My dad was going there for a work trip, and he let me tag along. While he was working in his conference all day, I went out on my own to explore Switzerland! It was so much fun and I got to see so many amazing sights. I was awestruck by the image seen in this picture with a brilliant blue sky, gigantic mountains, beautiful reflective water, and a rocky outstretch into the water. I had to get a picture here, so I flagged another tourist down and had them take a picture of me on the end of the rocky area in front of all of the beautiful scenery. It is my favorite picture that I took on my trip!

WHAT I FOUND DIFFICULT ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The picture that I based my piece on had lots of different elements to it such as the sky, mountains, water, and rocks. I wanted them all to look perfect since it was such a beautiful picture with all of the elements flowing seamlessly together, and I found this very hard because I wanted each part to be perfect. I did not realize that it was okay for it to look a bit different in the painting, because I don't think it would be possible for it to look just like it actually did in the real world. I also found it really difficult to make the mountains look like I wanted, because I wanted it to seem as if some were further than others without making the color changes too drastic. Those are the elements that I found most difficult in the painting.

HOW DID MY TWO FAVORITE WARM-UPS HELP?:
My first favorite warm-up which is the warm-up where we learned all of the different techniques proved very helpful in creating the mountains that I put on my piece. I was able to use the layering technique that we learned in this warm-up and I think that if we hadn't done this warm-up, my mountains wouldn't have looked the same. I would've tried to use different colors to create the mountain instead of using the same color and just adding more layers of it to the closer mountains. As for the perspective warm-up, I chose the one where we drew the hallway in front of us in one point perspective. I think that this was very helpful since I ended up using one point perspective in my piece. For the rocky area that jutted out into the water, I used this perspective and without The warm-up, I would not have been able to do it as well.
