PHOTO OF MY FULL PIECE:
DETAIL SHOT OF MY PIECE:
MY DIFFERENT MEDIUMS AND TECHNIQUES:
The first medium I used was a gel medium. I used this medium to glue down my background layer of the map which was my second medium. The third medium that I used was glitter on top of the wet gel medium to add a sparkling effect. I used a sprinkling technique for this in order to try and cover all parts of the map evenly. The fourth medium that I used was acrylic paint in order to cover up the large words over the map such as China. The next medium I then used was also acrylic paint in order to paint Saint Basil's Cathedral. For this medium, I used a dotting and lining technique with tiny paint brushes to try and make the details as fine as a possibly could. The fifth medium that I used was a black pen in order to create the Eiffel Tower. I used a ruler technique here in order to try and make the lines with my pen as straight as I possibly could. The sixth medium that I used was stamping ink to make the Arc de Triomphe. I used the linocut block stamping technique in order to create this. I used linocut tools and cut out the shape and details of the architectural piece and then covered it in ink and stamped it onto my page. The seventh and final medium that I used was watercolor for Cloud Gate located in Chicago. I use d metallic acrylic paint for the base layer and then used the watercolor to paint on top and make I look like it was reflecting what was in the background. I used the watercolor technique of adding lots of water to make it very thin and not bright so that you could still see the metallic acrylic paint through the reflection overtop. Those are the seven mediums I used the techniques that went along with them!

MY WORD AND HOW I PORTRAYED IT:
Instead of using a word chosen for me, I came up with my own word to base my piece off of. The word that I used was travel. I wanted to show different major architectural and tourist attractions that are around the world that many people travel to. I chose five major architectural tourist attractions around the world that were Cloud Gate, The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, The Washington Monument, and Saint Basil's Cathedral. I felt that using all of these places really gives you a sense of traveling around the world and seeing all of these different places. I also enhanced this effect by adding a map in the background to emphasize the travel theme and glitter to make it seem more mystical and magical like those places are. That is how I attempted to portray the word travel.
